Queen & Slim

Auditorium - Monday 9 Mar 2020, 20:30

Stylish, provocative, and powerful, ‘Queen & Slim’ tells a gripping fugitive story steeped in timely, thoughtful subtext.

While on a forgettable first date together in Ohio, Slim (Daniel Kaluuya - ‘Get Out') and Queen (Jodie Turner-Smith) are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. The situation escalates with sudden and tragic results when he kills the police officer in self-defense. Terrified and in fear for their lives, Queen, a criminal defense lawyer, and Slim, a retail employee, are forced to go on the run. But the incident is captured on video and goes viral, and the couple unwittingly become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief and pain for people across the country. This oddly hypnotic piece of work is an example of how modern culture can be weaved into a romance plot without compromising either element.
