After ‘A Bigger Splash’ and ‘Call Me by Your Name’, Luca Guadagnino has gone ‘off-piste’ with a remake of Dario Argento’s legendary witch tale.

Both the 1977 Argento original and this 2018 version take place at a dance company, both deal with a coven of witches, and both are incredible visual and musical achievements, but most of the parallels stop there. A darkness swirls at the center of this world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf former dancer Patricia (Chloë Grace Moretz), the troupe's artistic director (Tilda Swinton), an ambitious young dancer (Dakota Johnson), and the grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up. ‘Suspiria’ is a gorgeous, hideous, uncompromising film, with a befittingly unique soundtrack by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke.
